More than one-quarter of Americans are climate change skeptics, according to a new report released by the Public Religion Research Institute. These deniers don’t believe that the planet Earth’s climate is changing, even though 97% of scientists believe it is.

When asked why they don’t believe, the skeptics’ most common response was that they had not noticed a change in the weather around them, and that the weather was actually getting colder where they lived.

Here are some consequences of global warming. Even a seemingly slight average temperature rise is enough to cause a dramatic transformation of our planet. 

• Higher temperatures are worsening many types of disasters, including storms, heat waves, floods, and droughts. 
  
• Higher death rates. As temperatures spike, so does the incidence of illness, emergency room visits, and death.
  
• Rising temperatures also worsen air pollution by increasing ground level ozone
  
• As land and sea undergo rapid changes, the animals that inhabit them are doomed to disappear if they don’t adapt quickly enough.
  
• By 2100, it’s estimated our oceans will be one to four feet higher, threatening coastal systems and low-lying areas, including entire island nations and the world’s largest cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Miami as well as Mumbai, Sydney, and Rio de Janeiro.

I’m very mad at the people in the notes section​ who claims that Global warming and climate change aren’t real. Just because you haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean others didn’t. Global warming causes extremely strong typhoons. Typhoons like Haiyan/Yolanda that destroyed the house of my friend to smithereens and claimed thousands of lives. Typhoons that had lasting effects on third world countries. Third world countries whose CO2 emissions don’t even reach even 10-20% of the 1st world’s.

I’m glad sixpenceee is actually advocating for this. Because right now, those who have the least bear the most burden. So fuck you all climate change deniers

climate change is not only global warming, dropping temperatures known as global cooling, exist too. so the skeptics’ reasoning doesn’t make any sense
